The Women's Super League has posthumously inducted former Liverpool manager Matt Beard into its Hall of Fame, according to the official league announcement. Beard led Liverpool to back-to-back league titles in 2013 and 2014 during his first stint at the club. He is the first person to receive the honour posthumously.
Former Manchester United manager Casey Stoney and retired defender Kerys Harrop also joined the Hall of Fame in the latest round of inductions. Stoney guided United to the Women's Championship title in 2019 before establishing the club in the top flight. Harrop holds the record for the most appearances in WSL history, having played for Birmingham City and Tottenham Hotspur, per Sky Sports.
An expert panel selected the trio to recognise their significant impact on the growth and history of the competition. Beard returned for a second spell at Liverpool in 2021, leading the team to the Championship title and promotion before his passing. The induction ceremony took place earlier today to celebrate the three figures.
